Legendary Skill Hunter
I'm about to start working on my Legendary Skill Hunter title, and I was wondering if I have already unlocked some skills with tomes do I still have to cap that skill?

If when you say "Unlocked" you mean by the character that your getting the title for, then yes tomes count towards the title, but if the tome was used on another character then it does not count.

Most skills can be capped easily and in a very small amount of time, I'd sell the tomes and cap them normally. Especially with tomes costing 5-10k each.

There is a difference between "unlocking" a skill and "learning" a skill. A tome does not unlock skills. It can only let a character learn a skill that is already unlocked on your account. Using a Signet of Capture both unlocks a skill for the account and teaches it to the character that used the signet.
The goal for Elite Skill Hunter is to learn all the elite skills, so using an elite tome to get a skill counts. It is, however, much more expensive to chase the title that way than it is to cap the skills from bosses. |

Prophecies was the last campaign I capped in. The zones in the Ring of Fire were quite dreadful. |

Use tomes for annoying Elites.
Mineral Springs? May spawn in one of 6 places...... Ice Floe: This Mursaat boss may spawn in one of four places it shares with 5 other bosses....may not spawn....very annoying. |

In proph ive capped all except Feast Of Corruption, and 6 of the Ring Of Fire Skills, rest were tomed.
As far as other campaigns go, sigging everything is easy. |

I am working on the Prophecies Skills hunter now.
It has taken me forever or what seems like it. I currently have 83/90 skills capped and I am working in the Fire Islands. Here is my advice. If you have the gold buy the Elite tomes. If the skill is not unlocked on your account then do some AB or JQ for the Balt-Fact and unlock the skill for 3000 faction on your account. (you can get 2000 almost free faction every day if you know how) There are some very hard skills to cap cause it might take you 20 minutes just to get there only to fund that the stupid thing did not spawn! So you do it again and still did not spawn. I got so mad after the 6th time and still no boss. After I calmed myself down - I did some AB unlocked the stupid skill and then simply bought an elite tome. The game seems to know that you need the skill and then does not spawn the boss. So my advice. Try and cap the skill first. If it does not spawn after 3 tries unlock the skill on your account and then buy the elite tome. Also Capping these skills will net you more than enough Gold to keep you in caps. Proph cost me 90K and 90 skill points. |

1. Using a tome, like everyone else has said, counts as capping.
2. You may want to hold on to a couple of elite tomes... I had to use one for a Canthan boss that wouldn't spawn courtesy of one of the quests. I think it was the one that makes all the Am Fah friendly. It's always good to have that option on hand, although I generally favour capping to using elite tomes. |
